چکیده

Protective slag is coated on the surface of molten steel during continuous casting, flow and heat transfer state protective a decisive factor affecting inflow consumption liquid also an important prerequisite for stabilizing improving quality casting billets. Based Navier Stokes fluid momentum conservation equation energy equation, two-dimensional longitudinal numerical model describing flow/heat established. The data comes from equipment parameters process arc shaped slab machine in domestic plant. field temperature distribution are calculated analyzed, effects factors such as layer thickness shear speed status discussed. When bottom velocity increases 0.005 m/s to 0.2 m/s, maximum nozzle narrow center area 0.0012 0.0617 average near 0.0627 m/s. research results provide reference investigating complex metallurgical behavior slag.

In the conventional continuous casting of steel, either mold powder or oil can be added to lubricate the mold from sticking to the solidifying steel shell. The mold powder melts to form a molten slag or flux layer, and also acts to protect the molten steel from oxidation, to insulate the molten steel from heat loss, to absorb inclusions from the molten steel, to regulate heat transfer to mold w...

Mathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer for Steel Continuous Casting Process

Heat transfer mechanisms and the solidification process are simulated for a continuous casting machine and the geometric shape of the liquid pool is predicted considering different conditions. A heat transfer and solidification model is described for the continuous casting of steel slabs. The model has been established on the basis of the technical conditions of the slab caster in the con...

Interfacial Friction-Related Phenomena in Continuous Casting with Mold Slags

Many phenomena in continuous casting including the formation of surface defects are greatly affected by heat transfer in the mold. The interfacial slag layers between the solidifying steel shell and the mold wall dominates the resistance to heat removal and thus controls mold heat transfer. Surface defects, such as longitudinal cracks and star cracks have been associated with variation of slag ...

Computational Modeling of Flow, Heat Transfer, and Deformation in the Continuous Casting of Steel

Abstract: Further technology improvements to complex mature processes, such as the continuous casting of steel, require a combination of careful laboratory experiments, plant trials on the commercial process, and advanced computational models. As computer power increases, computational models are able to contribute more to the understanding, design, and control of these complex processes. Fluid...

Effect of Transverse Depressions and Oscillation Marks on Heat Transfer in the Continuous Casting Mold

Results from mathematical models and plant experiments are combined to quantify the effect of transverse depressions and oscillation marks on heat transfer in the continuous casting mold. A heat transfer model has been developed to calculate transient heat conduction within the solidifying steel, coupled with the steady-state heat conduction with the continuous casting mold wall. The model feat...
